    This and another painting of a bird, now offered by us on VandM, were purchased in Madrid in 1970. "Blessed Ripo" as he is often called enjoyed wordlwide success.

    

    At the age of 12 Ripolles-Garcia started working as an apprentice in an industrial painting company, while he attended night classes in drawing school of Arts and Crafts Francisco Ribalta of Castellon. In 1954 set up his own company, moved to Paris where he remained until 1963.

 

    In 1958, he joined the group of painters from the gallery Drouand that included Bernard Buffet  and moved to Seville, then Cordova, Madrid, Castellon, the Netherlands, and finally back to Castellon . During his life he traveled and painted through Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Greece and Switzerland.

    He was honored for his life’s work by the Comunidad Valenciana in 2000.
