Large Planter Iridescent Glaze

The iridescent life in the glaze does not photograph well. Jurs received her BFA in 1963 from RIT where she studied with Bauhaus master Frans Wildenhain. She continued her education at Spencerport going on to teach at SUNY Brockport, Columbia University, RIT and Nazareth College. She is married to the artist designer Wendell Castle.

     She has been invited and had many solo shows over the course of the last twenty years, including, but not limited to the John Elder Gallery in New York City (1997, 1998, 1999), the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. (1997), the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art (1996), the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock (1995), the Contemporary Art Center in Kansas City (1989) and the Delaware Art Museum (1988).

Her works are held in the collections of the Smithsonian Institute, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the American Craft Museum, the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis and The Society for Contemporary Crafts in Pittsburgh.
