Animal Fantasique

Bruno Gambone

Bruno is the son of the famous Italian ceramicist and sculptor, Guido Gambone. Bruno first set out to establish his own artistic career as an abstract expressionist painter, a journey which brought him to New York and the East End of Long Island, mixing paint and influences with the major artists of the 1950s. His father's illness brought him back to Florence and during his father's decline he helped run the family kiln. Although he chose not to use his father's unique glazes and to develop his own, he absorbed some of his father's techniques.

These fantasy animals as a series of unique sculptures originally intended to illustrate a friend's children's book. She died tragically, but Bruno continued to make them, in almost infinite variety. Of the many have seen or sold and others I have seen pictures of, no two are the same. Bruno, now in his late 70s, has returned to painting in recent years. He has numerous exhibitions in Europe of his pottery, sculpture and paintings.

WE HAVE SEVERAL PIECES FROM THIS SERIES AND OTHER PIECES BY BOTH BRUNO AND GUIDO.
