NYC studio Illustrator/artist listed in Who Was Who in American Art, and Salons of America, illustrated a number of books,. He was commissioned to do 3 murals at 1939 World’s Fair, covers for Fortune, Liberty mags, . In 1949 he designed the NYC Subway map.

After serving in the Navy, Stephen Voorhies attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, graduating in 1922. He resided in Rockville Centre, Long Island, but also maintained a studio at 303 West 42nd Street in Manhattan. He painted numerous views of Nassau County and Long Island and was active in the Art League of Nassau County including serving as its President.
