White, purple with green spiral vase

Taylor Backes

11" high - 4" diameter
1980s

This tall slender work from by the founder of a major glass studio is aesthetically interesting in its design. Completed in the later half of the twentieth century this work is speckled with colors that are intersected by the green spiral line that winds up the object. The colors of the work include white, purple, pink and deep blue that look almost splattered on the object during the glazing process.
Like many of our other pieces this splattered look adds visual interest and a unique quality to the piece that is appealing to the viewer. The interior of the work is coated with a bright blue that not only contrasts with the colors on the exterior but adds depth to the colors on the exterior surface of the vase.
