Leonard Baskin

USA 1922-2000
pastel & mixed on paper 21x18

The perspective produces a momentary confusion, a question ... What’s happening here? Actually, it’s the likely perspective you’d have if you were in a barn watching a horse being shoed. A highly respected draftsman, printmaker, teacher, and sculptor, Leonard Baskin depicted in an abstract style man and his relation to the world.  While a student at Yale University, he founded a small private press specializing in fine book production. His works are in many museums including the Metropolitan, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MOMA, Art Institute of Chicago, Boca Raton Museum of Art, British Museum, Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Vatican Museums. He was a professor at Smith College.
